Introduction to Makeup Artistry for the aspiring Makeup Artist

Having worked with students and clients for years, Mindy now offers a workshop-style lesson for the aspiring Makeup Artist. You’ll get hands-on instruction to suit your needs and learn beauty basics to give you the knowledge needed to start a professional career. (WRKSHP001)

The course will include:

  • Kit supply basics, informational
  • Introduction to brushes and tools
  • Introduction to color theory
  • Lighting basics
  • Skincare and prep
  • Basic beauty and corrective makeup
  • Sculpting the perfect brow… tools and techniques
  • Applying false eyelashes, individual and strip
  • Overview of all makeup uses
  • Concealer and foundation techniques

2-day beginner course — $600 (includes all materials needed for class)

Career & Portfolio Development

This workshop covers the basics necessary for a career in makeup — including resumes, business cards, making and keeping contacts, and portfolio development. The first few days will be devoted to technique. You’ll then be supplied with models to create two distinct looks for your portfolio. Both of your designs will be photographed by one of the city’s top fashion photographers. Each student will choose two photos from the shoot to promote themselves. This workshop is an exciting environment for the Makeup Artist to express their creativity for the purpose of promoting themselves. (WRKSHP002)

This course is limited to working makeup artists.

Teen Makeup Lessons

Your teen will learn about proper skin care, makeup application for day and evening wear, and use of various products. They will learn about the proper tools. There will also be a full lesson on eyebrow shaping and advice on choosing the most suitable products. (WRKSHP003)

4-hour course (10-3) — $350 (includes materials and 1-hour lunch)

Airbrush Course

Introduction to airbrushing. From HDTV to high fashion footage, airbrushing has redefined the professional beauty industry. The workshop includes a live demo covering preparation of client, application, proper distance and pressure. An airbrushing device is required to take this class. You can purchase one from us if you don’t have your own. (WRKSHP004)

Bridal Business for the Makeup Artist

Learn everything you need to know about wedding services. (WRKSHP005)

Workshop includes:

  • Makeup techniques for the bride, mother-of-the-bride and bridesmaids
  • Camera-ready principles
  • Schedule, attire, setting, time of day
  • Strategies for developing your bridal business
  • Bridal packages, fee schedules and structures
  • Products that are best for photography
